I've been working on getting everything just right for about a week on this suite of widgets for a lightweight widget client called
XWidgets. It's a great program whether you are just starting with widgets or have been using them forever.
XWidgets user interface is simple and clean. A double click on the icon the program places in the taskbar will launch a dock on the bottom of your screen. A single click on the widgets in the dock will add them to your desktop.
XWidgets even gives the user the ability to create widgets with a nice GUI to make things simple and painless. If you've never given building your own widgets a try this program makes it much more simple.
I will work on writing a more in depth tutorial on the use and features of XWidgets in the future if it is needed.
Alright so what I am working on is a suite of widgets called
Real Suite 1.0. There are only photo frames and a trash bin for now, but I will continue to work on more widgets for the suite. The whole set is being built with relative size in mind. If you have any requests please let me know and I will see if I can get to it.
There are three frames sizes in 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10. Frames come in Portrait and Landscape in 4 different styles as well. By left-clicking on the widgets you will be given the option to change the frame and the folder used for the slideshow. As more of an extra there is also a laptop set that looks great when set to the video folder, if you have thumbnails of your movie posters.
The Real Mouse Hole Trash bin shows you an empty mouse hole when empty. When full a small mouse will peak out at you while nibbling on some crumbs. You can empty the trash with one click and sweep away the mouse.
For now the
download link is only a zip file so you will need to extract the folder to your widgets folder. Usually located in your My Documents folder: My Documents\xwidget\Widgets. If there are any problems with the current widgets please let me know. Also the download links are for 4shared so you will need an account to download them, but an account is free and you can even use facebook to register so it should only take a minute. Enjoy!
