Art 1 - Creative Project 3 "Simplified Elegance"

Traditional Bodhisattva
For the sculpture I found that getting my hands on anything to build with was a little difficult.  So I decided to model the sculpture in 3-D instead.  During the creation process I was able to record the entire event.  By using time-lapse technology I got the video down to 8 minutes.  It's a blast for me watching the whole process go by in no time at all.  Towards the end of the video there are stills from the sculpture to give some detail on the textures.  I was not able to fully render the project, but I think the idea is still there.

Evolution of Buddhist Architecture
I got the idea from watching this Khan Academy video.  Also from a picture of the Asian architexture in the textbook, Prebles' Artforms (10th Edition), from chapter 17.  Once I began reading the assigned chapters I knew right away what I wanted to create.  I based the sculpture on the Asian art, but only very loosely.  I wanted to stay true but also give the sculpture a modern feel.  The design changed a few times over the coarse of the week, as you can see from the video.

This project was a lot of fun.  First time using Chronolapse and the video turned out pretty great.  So here is the entire process of "Simplified Elegance" from sketch to concept quality model in Sketchup and Sketchbook.  Music in the video performed by Justice.  Enjoy :-)
